Welcome to the Silberman Student Advocacy Collective (SSAC) – a group of students committed to championing equitable, social-justice-oriented practices not just within Silberman, but far beyond. Since our launch in September 2021, we’ve been on a mission to revolutionize the student experiences.

Our passion drives us to elevate our peers’ professional journeys, improve conditions in field education, and create a nurturing environment for the next generation of social work practitioners. But it’s not all serious business – we love to engage with the community and throw fantastic events to keep the fun alive on campus!

Our History & Wins

  • 2021

    SSAC is formed as a way for students to organize collectively.

  • 2022

    Inaugural “Taskforce” meetings are held where faculty begins to work with students to achieve hours alignment.

  • 2023

    A complete faculty vote passes hours alignment! Beginning in Fall 2024, placements will only require 14 hrs of work per week.

  • February 2024

    SSAC establishes an official committee structure and advocates to the administration to continue Task Force meetings, even after the successful implementation of hours alignment.

  • May 2024

    DOE internship placements are announced to be ending at the same time as non-DOE placements.

    We are dedicated to the pursuit of fair labor practices and the provision of exceptional field placements and professional development. Through our culture-building initiatives, we aim to strengthen our alumni network and ignite a vibrant sense of community across our campus.
